Round up from Yacht Informer at the Dubai International Boat Show
After the final day at the Dubai International Boat Show, we have a lot to tell you about. We had a wonderful show here in Dubai this weekend. And before we start, we want to say a big thank you to the team behind the show, as always, it was excellent. Also a special mention and thank you to the Gateway Group who helped us navigate our way around the show and the UAE in general. It’s always a different feel to each show, and Dubai felt rather vast and open in its approach, during the daytime, but also during the warm evenings. As the evening falls upon the Dubai skyline, it definitely presents the show in a new perspective.
There were plenty of mid-sized boats on show at DIBS, however there were not as many larger yachts on display this year. This did not detract from the atmosphere of the event however, as there were still some amazing yachts on display.
There were a great number of sports cars to be seen as well, but they were not all just modern day super builds. Here’s a photo we took of an old vintage Mercedes Benz from the 60s, providing a lovely contrast in front of the Dubai skyline. 
And of course we cannot exclude supercars of the more recent times.
When it comes to the more renowned shipbuilders, we loved the Lürssen exhibition. They showcased their new 146m superyacht “Opera”, you can see the model in the image below.
The Lürssen “Opera” is now the 10th largest privately owned yacht in the world, and arrived yesterday from her maiden voyage to Portsmouth Harbour in the UK. She will continue onwards to a home berth in either the Mediterranean or Middle East. Of course, the shipbuilder Heesen also stood out from the crowd, with a model of their latest yacht on display that they proudly crafted in Holland. We are looking forward to seeing that one on the water sometime soon.
All in all, we loved DIBS and cannot wait to visit the UAE again at the next one. With more events due around the world, stay onboard the Yacht Informer website to keep updated.
