New 70,000 Square Meter San Vitale Production Site for Ferretti Group

Ferretti Group have spent €80 million in a new acquisition to secure a 70,000 sqm production site in San Vitale, in Ravenna, northeast Italy. In the deal, it is believed that part of the production site was purchased from Rosetti Superyachts. The acquisition is part of a three-year investment plan that will see the shipyard begin construction on new production sites. The development will include building a new Research and Design centre to complement the planned and existing facilities already in place at the Ravenna-based shipyard. The San Vitale, Italy production site includes a dry dock and over 70,000 square metres of coastal land that will significantly contribute to Ferretti Group’s planned growth strategy, increasing production capacity by around 20%.

Ferretti Group investment and improvement strategy

One of the most attractive features of the shipyard is its strategic location in Ravenna. It is close to both the Forlì headquarters and the Cattolica shipyard. Ferretti Group implemented a five-year investment strategy, which included expanding and upgrading production sites. The San Vitale acquisition consolidates Ferretti’s expansion plan, which also included significant upgrades at the companies La Spezia yard and the Ancona Superyacht Yard. The new shipyard will be the home of Wally sailing yachts as well as for the planned expansion of other Ferretti brands, including the Ferretti Yachts InFYnito range. Ferretti Yachts InFYnito range features interior designs with a powerful connection to the outdoors, with the clever use of glazing and open space designs. The InFYnito range offers owners views that range far and wide. Ferretti introduced sustainable materials and solar roofs to generate renewable energy. Italy has always been the heart of the Ferretti Group. This further acquisition will help the company grow and strengthen its roots, solidifying the country’s reputation for luxury yachting design and manufacturing.

Ongoing investment plan for Ravenna Shipyard

The initial acquisition of the Ravenna Shipyard involved a 40 million euro investment, followed by another 40 million euros over the next three years, earmarked for the building of a new Research and Development centre as well as for upgrades to existing facilities. Ferretti financed the acquisition of the Ravenna Shipyard through equity raised by listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange. The regeneration and refurbishment of the shipyard will significantly contribute to the company’s plans for state-of-the-art production, positive social impact and worker well-being. The Ferretti Group also has a commitment to protecting the environment through careful sourcing and utilisation of production materials, construction practices and world-class Italian craftsmanship. Owning and operating seven shipyards across Italy, the Ferretti Group sells through 60 carefully selected dealers reaching customers in more than 70 countries.

State-of-the-art shipyard facilities

The Ravenna site will continue to operate using Ferretti’s strong environmental ethos. Rosetti Marino, a sizeable commercial shipbuilder and parent company of Rosetti Superyachts, previously owned the shipyard. The sale of the San Vitale facility does not include the takeover of Rosetti Superyachts. The acquisition is part of a long-lasting promise that Ferretti Group CEO Alberto Galassi made to develop a state-of-the-art production site that encompasses worker well-being, positive social impact, reduced environmental impact and environmental protection.
